Women’s Co-Golfers of the Week

Laura Nochta, Indiana
Jr., Cortland, Ohio / Lakeview

In her first event of the spring season, Nochta tied for first with Purdue-ace Maria Hernandez at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.  The junior tallied 219 strokes over the three-day event, averaging a score of 73 per round.  The Cortland, Ohio, native posted scores of 72-74-73 to remain at the top of the leader board after each day.  Nochta earns her first career Big Ten Golfer of the Week accolade.

Hernandez guided Purdue to a 21-stroke triumph at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.  The two-time Big Ten Player of the Year totaled a three-round score of 219 for a 73 stroke-per-round average, sharing top individual honors with Indiana’s Laura Nochta.  Hernandez fired the Boilermakers’ lowest round on Day 1 of the event, firing a 71.  The team victory is the first in the seven years that Purdue has hosted the tournament.  The Spain native takes home her fifth all-time weekly award.
