Michigan State's Meier Picks Up Women's Golfer of the Week Honors

Michigan State's Christine Meier earns her first Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week award after putting together a top-10 performance at the Central District Invitational. Meier totaled a career-best 219 (+3) at the tournament, good for a tie for 10th place. The freshman's efforts led the 18th-ranked Spartans to a fifth-place finish and a team total of 888, tying the third-lowest score in program history. Meier fired an even-par 72 in the first round, following with a 77 in the second. She closed out the tournament with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday, marking the best round of her young career.
