Big Ten Women's Golf Set to Compete in NCAA Regionals

Six Big Ten teams and one individual golfer travel to NCAA Women's Golf Regionals today seeking a berth to the NCAA Championships. The regional field is divided among three sites, with 24 teams and six individuals competing at each site on May 10-12. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional to the NCAA Championships.

Big Ten Champion Michigan State and Northwestern will head to the East Regional in State College, Pa., where the Spartans enter as the No. 9 seed, and the Wildcats hold the No. 15 seed in the 24-team field.

Three Big Ten teams and one individual will compete in the Central Regional in Columbus, Ohio, headlined by No. 6 seed and host Ohio State. Purdue holds the No. 11 seed at the regional, while Michigan has earned the No. 20 seed. Nebraska's Madeleine Sheils will compete individually in the regional.

Illinois will compete in the West Regional in Erie, Colo., earning the field’s 19th-seed.

The 2012 NCAA Women's Golf Championships will be held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., and will be hosted by Vanderbilt University.
