Second Round of NCAA Golf Regionals Underway
May 10, 2012 Three Big Ten teams sit in the top 10 of their respective regionals after day one of the NCAA Women's Golf Regionals. Purdue holds third place in the Central Regional, while Illinois is tied for fifth in the West Regional and Michigan State is ninth in the East. The Boilermakers shot a 13-over 301 in Round 1 led by a 1-under 71 from Paula Reto. The Illini shot a 8-over 296, with Ember Schuldt and Samantha Sloan firing a 73 to lead the way. Ohio State is tied for 12th in the Central Regional with a 22-over 310, followed by Michigan in a tie for 15th at 315 (+27). In the East, Northwestern is tied for 16th with a 17-over 305. Nebraska's Madeleine Sheils is tied for fourth among individuals in the Central Region shooting a 72 on day one. Tee times for Friday's second round begin at 7:30 a.m. ET.
