2012 Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Nominee - MSU's Caroline Powers

Caroline Powers is Michigan State's nominee for the Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year.

Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference’s Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN’s season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Caroline Powers – Michigan State – Golf
Powers has put together the two best seasons in Michigan State women’s golf history in back-to-back years. A year after setting the school single-season scoring average record with a 73.53, she compiled the second-best average at MSU with a 73.78 in 2011-12. This past season, the junior led the Spartans to the NCAA Championships and its second straight Big Ten title. For her efforts, Powers was named an honorable mention All-American by the National Golf Association and first-team All-Big Ten for the second straight year.
