Three Big Ten Teams Earn Preseason Recognition from Golfweek

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Purdue, Ohio State and Michigan State have been tabbed as top-30 teams in Golfweek's preseason women's golf rankings. The defending NCAA and Big Ten Champion Boilermakers enter the season as the No. 1 team in the country, while the Buckeyes hold No. 21 and the Spartans check in at No. 23.

Three Purdue golfers also earned preseason laurels as Maude-Aimee LeBlanc, Numa Gulyanamitta and Laura Gonzalez-Escallon enter the season ranked in the individual top 30. LeBlanc, ranked fourth in the individual top 30, finished in a tie for third at the NCAA Championships last season. Gulyanamitta opens the season ranked as a second-team selection while Gonzalez-Escallon, the defending Big Ten Champion and Freshman of the Year, checks in as a third-team choice.

Ohio State opens the season at No. 21 after taking third place at the 2010 Big Ten Championships. The Buckeyes return first-team All-Big Ten selection Rachel Rohanna, along with second-team All-Big Ten honoree In-Hong Lim.

After finishing second at the Big Ten Championships last season, Michigan State checks in at No. 23 in Golfweek's rankings. The Spartans return two top-20 finishers from the Big Ten Championships in Caroline Powers and second-team All-Big Ten selection Aimee Neff.
