Michigan and Ohio State Earn Women's Gymnastics Weekly Accolades

Gymnast of the Week Kylee Botterman collects her fifth Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award of 2011 after posting a perfect 10.0 on the vault and winning her sixth all-around title this season for No. 8 Michigan against No. 2 Stanford and No. 9 Nebraska on Sunday. Botterman's performance on the vault marked the first 10 by any gymnast in the country this season and the second in her career. She also earned a first-place finish in the floor exercise (9.900) and took third place on the uneven bars (9.900) and balance beam (9.825) en route to first in the all-around (39.625). With the award, Botterman ties Penn State's Brandi Personnett, who won the honor five times in 2010, for most weekly awards in a season. Last Michigan Gymnast of the Week: Kylee Botterman (Feb. 7, 2011) Freshman of the Week Melanie Shaffer takes home Freshman of the Week laurels after winning the all-around title and collecting two other first-place finishes to lead No. 15 Ohio State to a victory against West Virginia on Saturday. Shaffer posted career-highs on the vault (9.900) and the floor exercise (9.875) on her way to first-place finishes in both events. She also tied for third on the balance beam (9.825) and sixth on the uneven bars (9.725), finishing with a career-high 39.325 in the all-around.
