Minnesota's Carabajal and Penn State's Personett Share Weekly Honor

Carmelina Carabajal
earns her second weekly award of the 2009 campaign after tying for first on three individual events, in addition to the all around, leading Minnesota to its best team score of the season and fourth-best score in program history to defeat Iowa 196.75-. Carabajal posted a career-high 9.95 on floor, good enough to tie for third place on Minnesota's all-time top performers list in the event. Her all around score of 39.375 was also a career best. The Albuquerque, N.M., native was also Minnesota's top scorer on vault, leading the team to their best vault score of the season. On beam she recorded a 9.875 mark to tie with teammates Kristin Furukawa and Jamie Bullock for first place, en route to tallying the second-best team beam score in program history. She tied with fellow Gopher Alexis Russell for first on floor, leading the team to its best floor score of the season.

Brandi Personett, Penn State
Jr. - Katy, Texas - Cinco Ranch

Brandi Personett
captured her seventh individual all-around title of the season with a 39.425 to win the Maryland Quad meet. She earned four top-five finishes, including placing fifth on vault (9.850), third on bars (9.825), first on beam (9.850) and her ninth first-place finish on floor (9.900). The award marks Personett’s fifth of the season and ninth of her career.
