Michigan Advances to NCAA Championships after winning the Northeast Regional

The ninth-ranked Michigan women's gymnastics team placed first at the NCAA Northeast Regional with a 196.000 on Saturday night (April 8) to advance to the 2006 NCAA Championships. Fifth-year senior Lauren Mirkovich  captured her third career regional event title on the uneven bars (9.900), and junior Lindsey Bruck placed second in the all-around (39.300) for the Wolverines.

Preliminary team and all-around competition for the NCAA Championships will be conducted in two sessions Thursday, April 20 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The top three teams from each session will advance to the Super Six competition Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m. The top four individuals from each session in each event (plus ties) from the preliminary team and all-around competition will compete in the individual-event competition Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
