Friday’s pre-qualifying session saw three gymnasts advance to the individual event finals on Sunday, as Nebraska and Ohio State competed in the team competitions of the first day of action at the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships.

The Huskers and Buckeyes finished with nearly identical scores in their respective pre-qualifying session. Nebraska, taking part in the first pre-qualifying session, finished fifth with a score of 196.625, while Ohio State took fourth place in the second pre-qualifying session with 196.525 points.

Based on results from the opening session, the Huskers qualified a trio of gymnasts to the individual event finals, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Jessie DeZiel earned a berth in the floor exercise final after tying for the top spot in the first session. Janelle Giblin tied for second on vault, while Emily Wong qualified for the balance beam final.
