ROSEMONT, Ill. – The 2016 Big Ten women’s gymnastics season is set to begin this weekend, with Iowa and Michigan in action. Competition begins on Saturday, with the Hawkeyes and Wolverines competing in the Cancun Classic against Arkansas.
The eight remaining programs open the following weekend with Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Rutgers on the road and Minnesota and Penn State hosting home meets.
Heading into the season, eight conference teams are ranked in the Road to Nationals Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Michigan won the 2015 Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships title and the regular season championship. The 2016 Big Ten Championships will be held in Lincoln, Neb., on March 19.
