Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Geena Gall, Michigan
Sr., Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc

Gall dominated the 800-meter run this past Saturday at the Indiana Invitational, besting the second-place finisher by over two seconds.  Her winning time of 2:06.39 serves as the best result in the country so far this season and exceeds the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.  The 2008 NCAA outdoor champion also anchored the first place 4x800-meter relay in a time of 9:05.27.  Gall collects her first career indoor track Athlete of the Week award.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Alicia Rue, Minnesota
Jr., Plymouth, Minn. / Armstrong

Rue broke the Minnesota indoor pole vault school record for the fifth time in her career at the Minnesota Open this past Saturday.  Her clearance of 14-4 (4.37 m.) ranks as the best vault in the country so far this season and automatically qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Championships.  Rue gathers her second consecutive indoor award of the season and the fourth of her career.
