Yvonne Mensah, Illinois

Mensah won four events and set two meet records to help lead Illinois to a first place finish at the Central Collegiate Championships last weekend. The sophomore set a personal best and meet record in the 60-meter hurdles in an NCAA provisional time of 8.23. The Surrey, B.C., native ran the opening leg on the record-setting 4x400 meter relay (3:49.48) and also took home crowns in the 60-meter and 200-meter in 7.48 and 24.50, respectively.
Mensah earns her first weekly laurel of her career and is the first Illini to be named indoor Athlete of the Week since Nicole Whitman on Feb. 4, 2003.
