Michigan and Wisconsin Garner Weekly Honors

The conference office announced on Monday the weekly women's indoor track and field awards with Michigan's Rebecca Addison earning Track Athlete of the Week honors and Wisconsin's Dorcas Akinniyi winning Field Athlete of the Week accolades. Track Athlete of the Week Michigan's Rebecca Addison helped the Wolverines' distance medley relay team to a win while picking up an individual victory at the Meyo Invitational last weekend. Addison ran the 800-meter leg of the relay as the Wolverines posted an automatic time of 11:04.26, the fourth-fastest time in the nation. In the mile, Addison won with a two-second cushion in a personal-record time of 4:40.62. Her mile time is the third-fastest in the nation to date and the fastest by a Big Ten athlete this season. Last Michigan Track Athlete of the Week: Geena Gall (Feb. 9, 2009) Field Athlete of the Week Wisconsin's Dorcas Akinniyi took third in her first pentathlon of the season last weekend at the Husker Invitational. The two-time All-American and defending Big Ten pentathlon champion scored a conference-leading 3,964 points to finish second among all collegians in the field. This marks Akinniyi's first weekly award of her career and the first for the Badgers this season.
