Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota Garner Weekly Honors

Track Athlete of the Week Michigan's Rebecca Addison won the 800-meter run at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet, clocking in at 2:03.79 to record the nation's fastest time to date. The sophomore became one of two athletes, along with teammate Jillian Smith to qualify for the NCAA Championships with an automatic time in the race. In the 4x400 relay, Addison ran the third leg, helping the team finish second with a time of 3:44.92. This marks the second consecutive weekly award for Addison and the first back-to-back awards for Michigan since the 2009 season. Last Michigan Track Athlete of the Week: Rebecca Addison (Feb. 7, 2011) Co-Field Athletes of the Week Michigan State's Beth Rohl posted a conference-leading mark of 20.44 meters in the weight throw last weekend at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet. Rohl's mark is not only a women's school record, but also the best mark in school history regardless of gender. The sophomore's performance currently ranks eighth nationally in the event. Rohl's honor marks the first weekly field award for the Spartans since the 2008 season. Last Michigan State Field Athlete of the Week: Becca Buchholtz (Dec. 8, 2008) Samantha Sonnenberg - Minnesota Minnesota's Samantha Sonnenberg earned a first-place finish in the pole vault last weekend at the Iowa State Classic. Sonnenberg's vault of 13 feet, 9 ¼ inches is a season-best and currently leads the Big Ten. The senior's mark is among in the top-15 in NCAA Division I this season, ranking at No. 13.
