Hunter broke a 23-year-old Penn State record on the first day of competition at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 4,059 points in the pentathlon. The freshman currently ranks first in the Big Ten in the event and fourth in the nation. The Riverside, Calif., native also bettered the provisional standard in the long jump with a second-place mark of 20-0.5 and was part of the winning 4x400-meter relay squad that set a new Nittany Lion record of 3:40.07. PSU won the Challenge Cup with a team score of 121.5 points.

This is Hunter's first weekly laurel of her career and the first for Penn State since Connie Moore won the award on Feb. 18, 2004.
