Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Charelise Davis, Michigan State
So., Pittsburgh, Mich. / Oakland Catholic

In her first meet in nearly a month, Davis claimed the 200-meter dash title and placed second in the 60 at the Silverston Invitational this past weekend.  The sophomore posted times of 7.69 and 24.93 in the 60 and 200, respectively.  The Pittsburgh, Mich., native owns top-10 times in the Big Ten in both events this season.  Davis collects her second all-time Big Ten Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Aja Evans, Illinois
Jr., Chicago, Ill. / Morgan Park

Evans landed a season-best toss of 53-11 (16.43m.) in the shot put this past Friday at the Eastern Illinois Friday Night Special.  Her winning throw sits atop the Big Ten’s best this year and ranks sixth nationally.  She remains provisionally qualified for the NCAA meet as Evans recorded the national standard earlier this year.  The Chicago native takes home her first career weekly Big Ten laurel.
