Michigan's women's track and field team claimed its first NCAA event title since 1998, as the distance medley relay squad claimed the event title. The foursome of Nicole Edwards, Sierra Hauser-Price, Theresa Feldkamp and Lindsey Gallo finished first with a time of 11:08.24. The event title also marked the first for a Conference participant since Illinois' Perdita Felicien captured the 60-meter high hurdles national title in 2002.

In the team standings, the Wolverines posted the highest mark of all League teams with 16 points, good enough for 13th place. Rounding out the Conference teams in the standings were Iowa (33rd), Penn State (39th) and Illinois (57th).

In related news, two Wolverines garnered Great Lakes regional honors as Gallo was named the Athlete of the Year, while Michigan mentor James Henry garnered women's Coach of the Year. The awards were announced by the United States Track Coaches Association on March 8.

With the conclusion of the indoor season, all Big Ten teams will open up their respective outdoor seasons in the coming weeks.
