2012 Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Nominee - Track & Field's Ashley Miller

Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference’s Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN’s season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Ashley Miller – Nebraska – Track and Field
This season, Miller became a three-time Big Ten champion, winning the 3,000-meter indoor title and the 500 and 1,500 meter outdoor crowns. She was named a second-team All-American and holds three school records. After qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the women’s 1,500 meters, she finished the final meet of her Husker career with a personal-best time of 4:14.12 in the semifinals. The senior captain guided the Husker women to their first Big Ten Championship at the indoor meet and a second-place fin¬ish at the outdoor Big Ten Championships.
