2011-12 Big Ten Women's Indoor Track and Field Season to Begin This Weekend

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The 2011-12 women’s indoor track and field season is set to begin on Friday with Indiana taking to the track to host the Hoosier Open. The remaining Big Ten teams will open their indoor campaigns next month. On Jan. 6, Ohio State hosts the Buckeye Classic. On Jan. 7, Michigan hosts the Michigan Women’s Open, Penn State competes in the Penn State Relays and Purdue hosts the Purdue Invitational. The following weekend features the season debuts for the remainder of the conference contingent, beginning with Minnesota and Nebraska in action from Jan. 13-14. The Huskers welcome the Golden Gophers to Lincoln for the Holiday Inn Invitational. Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, and Wisconsin begin their seasons on Jan. 14. The Fighting Illini welcome the Hawkeyes to the Illini Open, the Spartans visit Allendale, Mich., for the Grand Valley State University Bob Eubanks Open and the Badgers host the Badger Track Classic, a two-day event with action resuming on Jan. 15.
