Maryland and Northwestern Earn First Weekly Women's Lacrosse Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Selena Lasota, Northwestern
Jr. – A – Campbell River, B.C. – Carihi Secondary
• Led the Northwestern to a pair of wins this weekend, including an 18-7 victory over Canisius and a 21-2 win over Detroit Mercy with six goals, three assists and nine points
• Scored two goals against Canisius and netted four goals and three assists against Detroit Mercy, also pulled in three groundballs and won a team-high seven draw controls over the two games
• The 2016-17 Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns her fourth career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor and the first of the season

Defensive Player of the Week
Lizzie Colson, Maryland
So. – M – Manchester, Md. – Manchester Valley
• Played a key part in Maryland’s defensive efforts against William & Mary, where the Terps’ did not allow a goal until the 12:40 mark of the first half
• Colson tied for the team lead with a pair of groundballs and was second on the team with three draw control wins
• Collects her first career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week plaudit

Freshman of the Week
Taylor Pinzone, Northwestern
M – Waltham, Mass. – Waltham
• Tallied three goals and added an assist for four points in two victories
• Scored her first career goal and dished out an assist in NU’s 18-7 victory over Canisius and tallied her first career multi-goal game, with two goals, in the Wildcats’ 21-2 win over Detroit Mercy
• Earns her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor
