ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Maryland women's lacrosse team secured its third straight outright Big Ten Championship on Thursday following an 18-9 win at Northwestern. The victory also secured the top seed in next week's Big Ten Tournament for the Terrapins.
Maryland completed an unbeaten conference season at 6-0, and improved to 17-0 overall. Caroline Steele led the Terps with six goals and one assist, while Caroline Wannen tallied four goals and an assist. Seniors Zoe Stukenberg and Megan Whittle each registered a pair of goals and dished out a pair of assists.
The 2017 Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Tournament will be hosted by Maryland at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on May 5 & 7, and for the first time will feature four conference teams. All session and single-session tickets are on sale and can be purchased here.
