ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Maryland women’s lacrosse team secured its second straight outright Big Ten Championship on Thursday following a 10-9 win at Penn State. The Terrapins also earned the top seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament.
Maryland completed an unbeaten conference season at 5-0, and improved to 17-0 overall. Caroline Steele recorded a hat trick, while Taylor Cummings and Taylor Hensh each scored two goals and added an assist. The game was tied, 8-8, with less than seven minutes remaining, but Jen Giles produced the game-winning goal with 3:07 left.
The 2016 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament will be hosted by Northwestern at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium from May 5-8, and will feature all six conference teams. All-session and single-session tickets are on sale and can be purchased here.
