Women's Lacrosse Tournament Semifinals

Maryland defeated Rutgers and Northwestern outlasted Penn State to advance to Sunday's Big Ten Tournament Championship game. The Terrapins and Wildcats will faceoff at Noon CT/1 p.m. ET.

Using a balanced attack, the top-seeded Maryland Terrapins defeated Rutgers, 19-9, Friday evening in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. With the win, the Terps advanced to the championship game on Sunday.

Taylor Cummings (three goals, two assists) and Caroline Wannen (two goals, three assists) led the Terps offensively with five points each. Zoe Stukenberg, Megan Whittle and Taylor Hensh each tallied hat tricks against the Scarlet Knights while Caroline Steele added two.

Kaleigh Craigh tallied a hat trick, and Danita Stroup added two goals as Northwestern posted a 9-6 victory over Penn State to advance to Sunday's championship game.

Goaltender Mallory Weisse made 10 saves and tallied a .625 save percentage for the game. The Nittany Lions' Alexis Phillips scored a pair of goals to lead Penn State's offensive effort.
