Penn State Tops Virginia, Joins Maryland and Northwestern in NCAA Quarterfinals

Madison Cyr, Steph Lazo and Katie O'Donnell all recorded hat tricks in leading Penn State to a 13-11 at Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Penn State advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals, where the Nittany Lions will take on North Carolina.

Northwestern Upends Notre Dame to Advance to NCAA Quarters
Northwestern turned a three-goal deficit into a five-goal victory in defeating Notre Dame at Lakeside Field, 16-11, on Sunday afternoon. Next Saturday will mark the fifth meeting between the Wildcats and Terrapins in the last six years of NCAA Tournament action. The two teams have split their four meetings in the NCAA Tournament, including a pair of matchups in the national championship contest. NORTHWESTERN RELEASE

Maryland Opens NCAA Tournament Play with Win Over Massachusetts
Led by four-goal performances from Kelly McPartland and Megan Whittle, the top-seeded Terps dominated UMass, 19-8, in the NCAA Championship second round Sunday afternoon. The Terps will face eighth-seeded Northwestern in the NCAA quarterfinals Sunday, May 17 at Noon ET. MARYLAND RELEASE

Massachusetts defeats Jacksonville to Set Up Meeting with Top-Seeded Maryland

Top-seeded Maryland will face Massachusetts on Sunday, May 10 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. UMass defeated Jacksonville, 13-8, in College Park, Md., on Friday. The Terrapins received an opening round bye. Maryland will host UMass beginning at Noon ET on Sunday.

Ohio State Falls Short Versus Notre Dame, 13-11
Three Ohio State players scored two goals, but the Buckeyes dropped a 13-11 decision versus Notre Dame in the opening round of the NCAA Championship at Lakeside Field. Ohio State led 7-5 at halftime, but Notre Dame posted an 8-4 advantage in the second frame. The Buckeyes end their season with a 13-8 record. OHIO STATE RELEASE

Northwestern Defeats Louisville, 10-7
The No. 8-seed Northwestern Wildcats withstood a tough first half against visiting Louisville and a 2-hour, 33-minute weather delay through halftime before dominating the second half to pull away and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 10-7 victory. Northwestern will take on Notre Dame in the second round on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. ET at Lakeside Field. NORTHWESTERN RELEASE

Penn State Tops Johns Hopkins, 14-11
A pair of four-goal games by Jenna Mosketti and Tatum Coffey led No. 7 Penn State women's lacrosse past No. 17 Johns Hopkins, 14-11, on Friday afternoon at Klöckner Stadium in the NCAA First Round. Penn State, making its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance, moves on to play No. 7 seed Virginia. That NCAA Second Round game will take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Klöckner Stadium.
