ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Top-seeded Maryland and No. 4 Penn State will compete in the NCAA quarterfinals this weekend. The Terrapins welcome No. 8 Stony Brook to College Park for a 12 p.m. ET game on Saturday, while the Nittany Lions host No. 5 Princeton at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Both games will be carried by BTN2Go, while the Penn State game will also appear live on BTN.
The Terrapins received a bye in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before defeating High Point, 21-6, in the second round. The Terrapins are 20-0 and have a goal differential of +60 on the season. Maryland, which earned the outright Big Ten Championship and Big Ten Tournament title, is making its 33rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 28th straight trip. Maryland's Nadine Hadnagy and Zoe Stukenberg were named two of five finalists for the 2017 Tewaaraton Award. The Terps will face a third Tewaaraton Award finalist this weekend when Kylie Ohlmiller takes the field for Stony Brook.
Penn State defeated James Madison in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after receiving a bye in the first round. The 19-14 victory was the Nittany Lions’ second of the season against the Dukes. Sunday’s game vs. Princeton is another rematch for the Nittany Lions, as they defeated Princeton 13-8 in a road game on March 21, 2017. Penn State is making its 23rd trip to the championship and its sixth straight appearance.
