UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Following its 8-4 victory over seventh-seeded Penn in Saturday’s NCAA quarterfinals, Penn State’s women’s lacrosse team secured its first Final Four appearance since 1999. The Nittany Lions will take on third-seeded North Carolina in next Friday’s national semifinals at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
At the half, the Nittany Lions led Penn 6-2 and never looked back, scoring twice more to close the game out at 8-4. Madison Cyr led the way for Penn State with two goals and two assists while goalkeeper Emi Smith tallied eight saves. Penn State clinched its 10th trip to the NCAA semifinals.
Top-seeded Maryland will host Massachusetts Sunday at Noon E.T. on BTN. The Terrapins have made seven straight appearances in the Final Four.
