Maryland Advances to NCAA Final

BOSTON – Following its 20-10 victory over No. 4 Penn State in Friday’s NCAA semifinals, Maryland’s women’s lacrosse team secured its fifth consecutive national championship game appearance. The top-seeded Terrapins will take on the winner of Friday’s second semifinal between Boston College and Navy in Sunday’s NCAA Championship game at Gillette Stadium.

The Terrapins’ offensive attack was led by midfielder Jen Giles, who recorded four goals and four assists on the evening. Joining Giles with four-goal games were Kali Hartshorn and Taylor Hensh, while Zoe Stukenberg (3G, 2A), Megan Whittle (3G, 1A), Caroline Steele (2A) and Caroline Wannen (1G, 1A) also recorded multi-point games. Goaltender Megan Taylor made 10 saves to help Maryland advance to the final.

Penn State was led offensively by Katie O’Donnell’s four goals, while fellow midfielder Maggie Gallagher joined her with a hat trick for the Nittany Lions. Penn State concludes the season with an overall record of 17-4.
