Maryland Women’s Lacrosse Advances to National Championship Game

PHILADELPHIA – Following its 19-9 victory over Syracuse in Friday’s NCAA semifinals, Maryland’s women’s lacrosse team secured its fourth consecutive national championship game appearance. The top-seeded Terrapins will take on third-seeded North Carolina in Sunday’s NCAA Championship game at Talen Energy Stadium.

The Terrapins’ Taylor Cummings, Taylor Hensh and Megan Whittle each scored four goals to lead Maryland’s offensive attack. Goalkeeper Megan Taylor recorded nine saves in the cage.

Maryland and North Carolina will be meeting in the NCAA final for the second consecutive season. Sunday’s game will get underway at Noon ET and air live on ESPNU. The Terrapins posted an 8-7 win over North Carolina on Feb. 27 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

North Carolina outlasted Penn State, 12-11, in the first national semifinal on Friday. The Nittany Lions’ Jenna Mosketti scored three goals, while Madison Cyr and Abby Smucker each added a pair of tallies.
