OHIO STATE FIRST VARSITY EIGHT
Defeated: Virginia and Duke at ACC/Big Ten Duals in Columbus, Ohio
Notes: The Buckeyes' first varsity eight defeated No. 6 Virginia and No. 17 Duke to open the 2005 season with a 2-0 record for the fifth-consecutive year. The Ohio State boat topped the Blue Devils by 16.4 seconds in the morning and edged the Cavaliers by 4.7 seconds in the afternoon, posting times of 6:32.3 and 6:25.5, respectively. Members of Ohio State's winning crew were Laureen Ellison as coxswain, Diana Albrecht at stroke, Franziska Schubert, Jana Schiller, Beth Tompkins, Ninett Kossowsky, Jess Shepherd, Anna Fago and Amanda Purcell at bow.
