Michigan State First Varsity Eight
Michigan State’s first varsity eight earned Big Ten Boat of the Week status after going 2-0 over the weekend at a Big Ten Double Dual in Bloomington, Ind. Members included coxswain Amanda McGeachie, Michelle Mussett, Shannon Dunn, Laura Cowal, Emily Regan, Michelle Neuder, Kellie Lapointe, Stephanie Bochenek, and Victoria Woodard. In its first race against Indiana, the boat topped the Hoosiers by 24 seconds en route to a time of 6:51.0 in Michigan State’s 44-25 win over Indiana. Against Ohio State in the second session, the Spartan boat jumped to an early lead and rode that momentum to a 13-second win, finishing in a time of 6:39.3, clinching the Spartans’ 36-31 come-from-behind win.
