MICHIGAN STATE FIRST VARSITY EIGHT
Defeated: No. 14 Wisconsin and Iowa at Belleville Lake in Belleville, Mich.
Notes: The Spartans' top varsity boat went undefeated Saturday in Belleville, Mich., with wins over No. 14 Wisconsin and Iowa. The No. 6-ranked Michigan State varsity eight downed Wisconsin, 6:24.4 to 6:29.9, in the morning session and topped Iowa, 6:18.8 to 6:28.6, in the afternoon. Both finish times were the fastest of all varsity eights that competed. Members of Michigan State's winning crew were Beth Smith as coxswain, Roz Bialczak at stroke, Erin Robertson, Sarah Brady, Christen Brown, Kirsten Rasanen, Paula Thoms, Jasmine Pickler and Tara Middleton.
