Ohio State Wins 2017 Big Ten Rowing Championships

Indianapolis – Ohio State won its fifth consecutive Big Ten title, and eighth overall, at the 2017 Big Ten Rowing Championships at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis on Sunday. The Buckeyes recorded 180 team points, earning a trio of first-place finishes and a pair of Big Ten Championships records.

Ohio State tallied wins in the second novice eight (6:53.349), second varsity four (6:58.771) and first varsity eight (6:08.792) races. The Buckeyes’ times in the second varsity four and first varsity eight rank first and third in Big Ten Championships history, respectively.

Michigan followed in second place with 179 points, collecting victories in the first novice eight (6:36.905), third varsity four (7:04.932), first varsity four (6:58.226) and the second varsity eight (6:14.503) races. The Wolverines’ third varsity four boat shattered the Big Ten Championships record time by a full 11 seconds, while their first varsity four edged the previous record by 1.914 seconds.

Wisconsin finished third with 126 points, while Iowa and Indiana tied for fourth with 106 points. Complete team results and the All-Big Ten teams can be found below, while complete race results can be found above.

With the win, Ohio State earns the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships, which will take place May 26-28. The remaining Big Ten teams will learn their NCAA Championships fate on Tuesday, May 16 at 5 p.m. ET during the selection show.
