Four Schools Earn NCAA Bid to Rowing Championships

Wisconsin makes its seventh appearance in the NCAA Division I Rowing Championships.

Four Big Ten rowing teams were selected to the 2011 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships, the NCAA Rowing Committee announced on Tuesday. The championships will be held May 27-29 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif.

Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin each earned bids to the championships and are seeking their first NCAA title. The regatta is comprised of 16 teams, and each time is required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers.

Michigan is making its 12th appearance in the meet, while Michigan State was selected to its 13th championships in the last 14 varsity seasons. Big Ten Champion Ohio State is making its 12th consecutive visit to the national event, while Wisconsin appears in the regatta for the seventh time.
