Ohio State posted the best finish of the four Big Ten squads at the 2005 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships with a fourth place overall finish. The Buckeyes ended up with 42 points overall, just seven behind third-place Brown. Michigan finished eighth overall (35 points), followed by Michigan State in 10th place (27 points) and Wisconsin in 12th (13 points). California was the eventual national champion with 67 points.

Ohio State also had the best individual boat finishes for the Conference in both the I Varsity Eight and II Varsity Eight. The I Varsity Eight finished sixth with a time of 6:26.96 and was the only Big Ten shell in the Grand Final for that event. The Buckeye's II Varsity Eight just edged Michigan State at the line of the IIV8 Grand Final with a time of 6:40.60 compared to the Spartans' 6:40.69. Michigan finished sixth in that event at 6:47.39.

Wisconsin was the only Big Ten shell to participate in the I Varsity Four Grand Final, taking fifth place there with a 7:23.53.
