Two Big Ten teams earned top 10 finishes, while the other two finished in the top 15 when the final team standings were announced following the last day of competition on Sunday at the 2010 NCAA Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
Big Ten and Central Region Champion Wisconsin finished seventh overall with 55 points, while Michigan State was ninth with 51 points. Michigan was 11th with 43 points and Ohio State was 14th overall with 22 points.
The Badgers’ varsity four boat recorded the highest finish by a Big Ten team this weekend, finish with a third-place effort. One Michigan boat also placed in the grand final on Sunday, as the second varsity eight finished sixth overall.
In the varsity fours, Michigan was 11th, followed by Michigan State at 12th and Ohio State was 13th. In the second varsity eight, Wisconsin won the petite final, followed by Michigan State’s ninth-place finish. Ohio State was 11th. Finally in the first varsity eight, the Spartans won the petite final and was seventh overall, while Wisconsin was 10th and Michigan was 12th. The Buckeyes finished 15th in the race.
Virginia won the team championship with 87 points, followed by Cal (82) and Princeton (76).
