2017 Big Ten Championship Release Get Acrobat Reader

The 2017 Big Ten Rowing Championships will take place Sunday, May 14, at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. This year marks the seventh consecutive season that the event has taken place at the course. This year, the Big Ten Rowing Championship format will be an eight-lane finals only championship.

Ohio State enters the event after winning its fourth consecutive Big Ten Championship and seventh overall last season. Ohio State recorded 174 team points on the strength of four first-place finishes. Wisconsin followed in second place with 159 points, while Michigan finished third with 154 points.

Michigan has three top-seeded boats entering the championships, while Ohio State and Wisconsin each have two top seeds. The Wolverines' Second Varsity Eight, First Varsity Four and First Novice Eight claimed No. 1 seeds, while the Buckeyes' First Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Four also earned top seeds. The Badgers claimed the top seed in the Third Varsity Four and Second Novice Eight races.

Six Big Ten teams are ranked in the latest national USRowing/CRCA Coaches Poll. Michigan leads the way at No. 4 followed by No. 5 Ohio State, No. 10 Wisconsin, No. 12 Iowa, No. 16 Indiana and No. 19 Michigan State.

Ohio State Wins 2017 Big Ten Rowing Championships
Buckeyes win fifth straight Big Ten title

[RESULTS]

Indianapolis - Ohio State won its fifth consecutive Big Ten title, and eighth overall, at the 2017 Big Ten Rowing Championships at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis on Sunday. The Buckeyes recorded 180 team points, earning a trio of first-place finishes and a pair of Big Ten Championships records.

Ohio State tallied wins in the second novice eight (6:53.349), second varsity four (6:58.771) and first varsity eight (6:08.792) races. The Buckeyes' times in the second varsity four and first varsity eight rank first and third in Big Ten Championships history, respectively.

Michigan followed in second place with 179 points, collecting victories in the first novice eight (6:36.905), third varsity four (7:04.932), first varsity four (6:58.226) and the second varsity eight (6:14.503) races. The Wolverines' third varsity four boat shattered the Big Ten Championships record time by a full 11 seconds, while their first varsity four edged the previous record by 1.914 seconds.

Wisconsin finished third with 126 points, while Iowa and Indiana tied for fourth with 106 points. Complete team results and the All-Big Ten teams can be found below, while complete race results can be found above.

BTN will debut coverage of the Big Ten Rowing Championships on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. ET.

With the win, Ohio State earns the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships, which will take place May 26-28. The remaining Big Ten teams will learn their NCAA Championships fate on Tuesday, May 16 at 5 p.m. ET during the selection show.
