2012 Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Nominee - PSU's Maya Hayes

Maya Hayes is Penn State's nominee for the Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year award.

Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference’s Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN’s season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Maya Hayes – Penn State – Soccer
After leading the nation in goals (31) and points (70), Hayes was named a finalist for the Hermann Trophy for the top women’s soccer honors in the nation. The sophomore earned first-team NSCAA All-America and NSCAA All-Great Lakes honors, and claimed first-team All-Big Ten and Forward of the Year laurels after being named Offensive Player of the Week four times. She set a new Penn State and Big Ten record for points in a single season and led Penn State to its 14th consecutive conference title. Click HERE for more information on Maya.
