All 12 Big Ten women's soccer teams hit the pitch for the first official action of the 2011 season this weekend, with 11 teams opening play on Friday. Six of the 12 teams begin the season on their home field, while six are on the road to open 2011. Four conference squads face ranked teams to open the campaign, with three taking on top-10 foes to begin play.

Friday's slate begins with Iowa traveling to take on DePaul at 4 p.m. CT and Michigan State hosting Milwaukee at 5 p.m. ET. Purdue and Wisconsin each travel to meet their first opponents, with the Boilermakers visiting Toledo and the Badgers taking on top-ranked Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. ET.

In the university's first competition as a member of the Big Ten, Nebraska hosts No. 3 North Carolina at 6 p.m. CT. Michigan welcomes Akron to Ann Arbor, while No. 22 Minnesota travels to No. 6 Maryland at 7 p.m. ET. Indiana and eighth-ranked Ohio State each host intrastate foes as the Hoosiers take on Evansville and the Buckeyes welcome Xavier at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Illinois takes to its home field to open 2011 as the 24th-ranked Fighting Illini welcome Gonzaga at 7 p.m. CT. Preseason conference favorite Penn State rounds out the night's action with a match at No. 2 Stanford at 7 p.m. PT. Northwestern opens its season on Sunday, traveling to No. 12 Marquette for a 7:30 p.m. CT contest.
