The 2005 Big Ten women's soccer season opens Friday, Aug. 26, with all 11 conference teams in action. No. 8 Penn State and Purdue debut at home by hosting the Penn State Soccer Classic and the Boiler Challenge Cup, respectively. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin all open the 2005 campaign on the road. The No. 10 Buckeyes take on instate rival Kent State while the 13th-ranked Illini heads to Marquette and No. 25 Wisconsin will face the Creighton Jayhawks.

Big Ten action continues on Sunday as the defending conference champion Nittany Lions entertain UConn while defending tournament champion Ohio State heads to Xavier. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern and Wisconsin all continue action on the road while Purdue carries on the Boiler Challenge Cup.
