PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin have earned Big Ten women's soccer weekly awards, the conference office announced on Monday. Michigan State goalkeeper Jill Flietstra takes home Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Nittany Lions forward Maya Hayes earns Offensive Player of the Week laurels. Wisconsin's Cara Walls receives the nod for Freshman of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Maya Hayes, Penn State

F - So. - West Orange, N.J. - Newark Academy

  • Led her team to wins over No. 17 West Virginia (5-0) and Richmond (3-0)
  • Notched three goals and six points for the week, including two goals versus Virginia.
  • Hayes is currently on a three-match goal streak
  • Last Penn State Offensive Player of the Week: Tani Costa (Nov. 1, 2010)

Defensive Player of the Week

Jill Flietstra, Michigan State

GK - Sr. - Hudsonville, Mich. - Unity Christian

  • Helped lead her team to wins over DePaul (1-0) and Duquesne (3-0)
  • Had back-to-back shutouts at the Michigan Invitational.
  • Second consecutive shutout gives her 21 in her career, which is second all-time in MSU history
  • Last Michigan State Defensive Player of the Week: Elizabeth Watza (Nov. 1, 2010)

Freshman of the Week

Cara Walls, Wisconsin

F - Fr. - Wauwatosa, Wis. - Wauwatosa East

  • Tallied two goals and an assist in wins over No. 23 Washington (2-1) and Green Bay (1-0)
  • Scored one goal and assisted on another against Washington
  • Had the lone goal in win over Green Bay
  • Last Wisconsin Freshman of the Week: Monica Lam-Feist (Oct. 19, 2009)
