For the second consecutive week, seven Big Ten schools are either ranked or receiving votes in the two major national women’s soccer polls, with the latest editions released Tuesday by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NSCAA) and Soccer America.
Penn State is the top Big Ten school in this week’s United Soccer Coaches poll, rising five spots to No. 4, while Nebraska holds steady at No. 14. Rutgers is next at No. 16, while Michigan also appears in the top 25 at No. 23. Three other conference programs — Minnesota, Northwestern and Ohio State — are receiving votes in the current United Soccer Coaches poll.
In the new Soccer America poll, Penn State not only leads the Big Ten contingent, but also the nation after moving up two places to take over the No. 1 ranking. Rutgers rises three spots to No. 17, while Nebraska jumps four positions to No. 19 this week.
