Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue Garner Weekly Women's Soccer Awards

Michigan State's Annie Steinlage was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue have earned Big Ten women’s soccer weekly awards, the conference office announced on Monday. Golden Gopher forward Taylor Uhl takes home Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Spartan defender Annie Steinlage earns Defensive Player of the Week laurels. Purdue’s Kim Love receives the nod for Freshman of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Taylor Uhl, Minnesota
F – So. – Eden Prairie, Minn. – Eden Prairie 

  • Netted a hat trick and an assist in Minnesota’s 7-0 victory over Bowling Green
  • Becomes the first Golden Gopher to tally three hat tricks in her career
  • Earns the second Offensive Player of the Week, and fifth weekly award, of her career
  • Last Minnesota Offensive Player of the Week: Taylor Uhl (Oct. 31, 2011)

Defensive Player of the Week
Annie Steinlage, Michigan State
D – Jr. – Grand Haven, Mich. – Spring Lake 

  • Scored a goal and added an assist in the Spartan’s 2-1 win over Akron
  • Helped limit the Zips to just one shot on goal
  • Earns the first weekly award of her career

Freshman of the Week
Kim Love, Purdue
D – Fr. – West Chester, Ohio – Lakota West 

  • Led the Boilermakers to two shutout victories over Tennessee-Martin (2-0) and Evansville (4-0)
  • Helped limit Purdue’s opponents to one goal and 13 shots on frame in three games last week
  • Has played every minute this season
  • Earns the first weekly award of her career
