PARK RIDGE, Ill. – Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska and Penn State have earned Big Ten women’s soccer weekly awards as announced on Monday. The Huskers’ Morgan Marlborough and the Nittany Lions’ Maya Hayes take home Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Spartan goalkeeper Jill Flietstra earns Defensive Player of the Week honors. Hawkeye forward Cloe Lacasse receives the nod for Freshman of the Week.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Morgan Marlborough, Nebraska
F – Jr. – Lee’s Summit, Mo. – Lee’s Summit North

  • Led her team to wins over Arkansas (6-0) and Northern Arizona (8-1)
  • Notched 11 points on five goals and one assist over the weekend
  • Recorded her third career hat trick against Northern Arizona
  • Last Nebraska Offensive Player of the Week: n/a

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Maya Hayes, Penn State
F – So. – West Orange, N.J. – Newark Academy

  • Helped her team to wins over N.C. State (3-1) and Pittsburgh (3-0)
  • Recorded 11 points on five goals and one assist over the weekend
  • Tallied the 20th hat trick in program history with three goals against Pittsburgh
  • This is her second consecutive Big Ten women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week award
  • Named the Pitt Soccer Classic MVP
  • Last Penn State Offensive Player of the Week: Maya Hayes (Aug. 29, 2011)

Defensive Player of the Week

Jill Flietstra, Michigan State
G – Sr. – Hudsonville, Mich. – Unity Christian

  • Helped her team to wins over Oakland (1-0) and Akron (5-0)
  • Recorded two shutouts and had six saves over the weekend
  • Became Michigan State’s all-time career leader in shutouts with 23 after win against Akron
  • This is her second straight Big Ten women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week award and the fifth of her career
