Devon Beach (Indiana) and Jackie Carron (Michigan) were named co-Offensive Players of the Week and Lauren Robertson (Ohio State) was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Aug. 31-Sept. 6, the conference office announced today. Illinois' Niki Read and Minnesota's Cat Parkhill shared freshman of the week honors.

Devon Beach earns her first weekly laurel after serving as the offensive catalyst in the Hoosiers' 2-1 double-overtime win over No. 6 Florida last week. The No.6 ranking by the Gators is the highest-ranked opponent the Hoosiers have ever defeated. Beach gave the Cream and Crimson a 1-0 lead early in the second half on a header off a free kick from 35 yards out. She followed that up midway through the second overtime session with a perfectly placed ball to Leigh Anne Cummings, who scored the game-winner. The sophomore forward now has five career assists, including four that have led to game-winning goals for the Hoosiers.

Michigan's Jackie Carron assisted on both game-winning goals to lead the Wolverines to a pair of triumphs over in-state foes last week. In Sunday's contest against Eastern Michigan, Carron established a new career high with four points, tallying a goal and two assists to break her previous best of three points set on Thursday against Central Michigan. The weekly award is the first for the Wolverine junior and the first offensive laurel for U-M since 2006.

Ohio state goalkeeper Lauren Robertson collects her sixth career weekly honor after posting her third and fourth shutouts of the season last week. It was a pleasant homecoming for the Mission Viejo, Calif., native, who began the week by halting No. 12 San Diego, 3-0, followed by another unblemished performance at the net in OSU's 1-0 win over USC. The senior Buckeye now has a 0.38 GAA in five games this season.

Freshman Forward - Lake Orion, Mich. - Lake Orion

Niki Read tallied four points over the weekend as Illinois' top performer. The freshman forward posted the first assist of her career against ninth-ranked UCLA, helping the Illini tie the match 1-1 in the 37th minute of Friday's contest .On Sunday, the Lake Orion, Mich., native was instrumental in the Illini's 3-0 win over UC Santa Barbara, recording an assist on Jordan Hilbrands' game-winner, then scoring on a header to the upper left post on a corner kick. Overall, Read marked four shots against UCSB, three of which were on goal. She is second on the team with six points this season and leads the team with 14 shot attempts.


Cat Parkhill, Minnesota
Freshman Goalkeeper - Apple Valley, Minn. - Eastview

Minnesota's Cat Parkhill earns her first weekly award after completed the first perfect weekend of her young career. The novice goalkeeper tallied two shutouts, holding both Tennessee and North Dakota State without goals. Against UT on Friday, Parkhill made two saves in the second half to force the Lady Vols into extra sessions where she then preserved the 0-0 tie with her third save of the evening, good enough for a career high. On Sunday against North Dakota State, she stopped the only shot she faced in the 4-0 win. Parkhill has played every minute in goal for the Golden Gophers this season, and has four shutouts it five matches.
