Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Taylor Walsh, Wisconsin

Walsh recorded her first career hat trick and earned Offensive MVP honors at the Hoosier Classic this past weekend. Her three-goal effort came in the 7-1 rout over Vermont on Sunday in which she also added an assist. Walsh tied a Badger record for points in a game with seven. In Friday’s matchup, the senior Badger netted Wisconsin’s first of two goals as her squad went on to beat Cal-Poly, 2-1. The Madison, Wis., native takes home her first career weekly honor.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Co-Players of the Week

Lindsey Wrege, Michigan State

Jr., GK, Portage, Mich. / Portage Central

Wrege recorded two shutout victories in goal this weekend as the Spartans defeated Eastern Michigan 3-0 and Loyola (Ill.) 2-0. She played all 180 minutes for Michigan State and deflected seven shots on goal. The junior has only allowed one goal so far this season and has a shutout streak of 417:10. Wrege picks up her first Big Ten weekly laurel.

Jennie Clark, Minnesota

So., D, Norwalk, Iowa / Norwalk

Clark captured defensive MVP honors at the Minnesota Gold Classic this past weekend by helping her Gopher squad upend Ohio, 2-0, and Creighton, 3-0. Against Creighton, Clark neutralized the 2007 Missouri Valley Player of the Year, holding her to zero shots for the contest. The sophomore spearheaded a Minnesota defense that only allowed seven total shots all weekend. Clark receives her first Big Ten weekly accolade.
