Purdue and Rutgers Earn Weekly Women’s Soccer Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Maddy Williams, Purdue
F – Sr. – Perrysburg, Ohio – Perrysburg

• Had a hand in all four of Purdue’s goals last week, scoring three times and delivering a pass that resulted in an own goal as the Boilermakers split a weekend road trip to Louisville and Cincinnati
• Scored a natural hat trick in a 3-2 win at Louisville, with her first two goals coming 3:06 apart in the first half on the way to the fifth hat trick in program history
• Her long pass into the Cincinnati penalty area deflected off a Bearcat defender and wound up in the net for Purdue’s only score in a 2-1 loss
• A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection who received that award in 2014 and 2015
• Earns her second career Offensive Player of the Week honor and first of the season

Defensive Player of the Week
Casey Murphy, Rutgers
GK – Jr. – Bridgewater, N.J. – Bridgewater-Raritan

• Posted two shutouts and stopped all 10 shots she faced last weekend as No. 14/16 Rutgers remained unbeaten this season with a 2-0 win at George Mason and a 0-0 draw at No. 15 Georgetown
• Made a season-high six saves in the double-overtime tie at Georgetown
• Has recorded seven consecutive shutouts to start the season, as the Scarlet Knights are one of only two schools in the nation that have not allowed a goal in 2017
• Received Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2015
• Earns her seventh career Defensive Player of the Week award and second this season

Freshman of the Week
Alexa Ferreira, Rutgers
M – Warren, N.J. – Watchung Hills Regional

• Registered the first points of her career with a goal and an assist last weekend to help No. 14/16 Rutgers defeat George Mason and play to a scoreless draw at No. 15 Georgetown
• Came off the bench to score Rutgers’ first goal at George Mason in the 48th minute before assisting on the Scarlet Knights’ clinching score in the 80th minute
• Earns her first Freshman of the Week accolade
