Five Big Ten schools are either ranked or receiving votes in the two major national women’s soccer polls, according to this week’s rankings released by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NSCAA) and Soccer America.
Penn State is the highest-ranked conference school in the United Soccer Coaches poll, appearing at No. 8 this week, one spot ahead of Wisconsin, which rose seven places to No. 9. Rutgers moves up one position to No. 13, while Nebraska and Ohio State are receiving votes in the latest coaches’ poll.
The Nittany Lions also lead the Big Ten contingent in the Soccer America poll, holding steady at No. 4 for the second consecutive week. Wisconsin is up two places to No. 11, while Rutgers remains at No. 16. Ohio State makes its first appearance of the season in the Soccer America balloting at No. 23.
