Co-Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week:
Orianica Velasquez Herrera, Indiana
Freshman Forward/Midfielder - Bogota, Colombia - Colegio Americana de Bogota

Orianica Velasquez Herrera proved to be the catalyst for the Hoosier offense this past week as Indiana improved to 8-1, the best start in school history. Against Butler, Velasquez Herrera netted the only goal of the game in the 79th minute to seal the 1-0 victory for the Cream and Crimson. Then on Friday against Green Bay, she once again deposited a loose ball into the goal to put Indiana on top 1-0 in the 15th minute. Later in the game, the Bogota, Columbia, native put home the game-winning goal on a penalty kick, notching her third goal in two games and fourth of the season. The pair of honors marks the first weekly accolades for the freshman forward.

Keli McLaughlin garners her first weekly laurel after pivotal performances in Iowa’s wins over in-state foes last weekend. The junior forward began the weekend by scoring the first goal in the Hawkeyes’ 2-0 triumph over Iowa State on Friday. She then carried her offensive prowess to Sunday’s contest against Northern Iowa where she netted two goals in as many tries as Iowa went on to stymie the Panthers, 3-0. Overall, McLaughlin has recorded seven goals this season, scoring three times in the Hawkeyes' previous three consecutive shutouts.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Lauren Robertson, Ohio State
Senior Goalkeeper - Mission Viejo, Calif. - Santa Margarita

Lauren Robertson garners her second weekly laurel of the 2009 season after setting the Ohio State career shutout record in the Buckeyes’ 2-0 win over North Texas on Friday. The shutout marked 23 for the senior goalkeeper, besting the record set by Amber Barnes in 2000. Robertson continued to dominate in the net, posting another unblemished performance on Sunday as Ohio State topped Toledo, 2-0. With the award, the Mission Viejo, Calif., native now owns seven weekly laurels to her name.
