Laurie Nosbusch’s prolific offense helped Wisconsin post an unblemished 1-0-1 record as the Badgers opened the 2009 conference season against two highly-touted opponents in No. 15 Purdue and No. 19 Indiana last week.  In the Big ten opener against the Boilermakers, the Badger forward led the team in shots, with two, aiding Wisconsin to a 1-1 draw. Then, in Sunday’s showdown against Indiana, Nosbusch garnered her first career hat trick after punching in the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to give the Badgers the 3-2 victory over the Hoosiers. The trio of scores also marked her first goals of the season. This is the second weekly honor for the Mequon, Wis., native, who was first recognized with the award during her freshman campaign.

Sophomore Goalkeeper - Mt. Prospect, Ill. - John Hersey

Michele Dalton led Wisconsin in goal, helping the Badgers go unbeaten in the opening weekend of Big Ten play. The sophomore goalkeeper posted 12 crucial saves, limiting conference foes to just three goals over 200 minutes of action in net. Against No.15-ranked Purdue, the Mt. Prospect, Ill., native tallied six saves to preserve the 1-1 tie, and followed that performance with an additional six saves in Sunday’s 3-2 triumph over No. 19 Indiana. The victory marked Wisconsin’s first win over a ranked opponent since beating No. 20 Purdue in 2005.The award marks the first weekly laurel for Dalton, and the first Defensive Player of the Week honor for Wisconsin since 2006.

Jenny Bradfisch, Purdue
Senior Goalkeeper - Carmel, Ind. - Carmel

Senior Jenny Bradfisch patrolled the goal for Purdue over the weekend, helping the Boilermakers start the Big Ten season at 1-0-1. The Carmel, Ind., native began the week by nabbing three saves in Purdue's 1-1 tie at Wisconsin. She then made two more saves in Sunday’s contest at Northwestern as the Boilermakers topped the Wildcats, 2-0. The shutout was her second this season and 12th of her career, which ranks third in program history. This is the second weekly award for Bradfisch, who collected her first accolade earlier this season.

Freshman Midfielder - Surrey, British Columbia - Sullivan Heights

Monica Lam-Feist earns her first weekly award after posting two crucial assists in the Badger’s 3-2 upset over Indiana on Sunday. The freshman midfielder was instrumental in Wisconsin’s offensive attack, setting up two goals for teammate Laurie Nosbusch, including the game-winning goal at the 87:49 mark.
